Fire Safety Training at FRIN: Oyo State Fire Service Equips Staff with Vital Skills

FRIN, in collaboration with the Oyo State Fire Service, recently held a vital fire safety training session to strengthen staff preparedness and asset protection. The hands-on workshop marked another bold step in FRIN’s commitment to workplace safety and resilience.

The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), under the visionary leadership of the Director General, Dr. Zacharia B. Yaduma, recently hosted a comprehensive fire safety training led by the Oyo State Fire Service. The event, held at the FRIN International Conference Centre, reflects FRIN’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding both staff and institutional assets.

Representing the DG-FRIN, Dr. Benson Osikabor, Director of Training and Research, emphasized the importance of equipping staff with fire prevention knowledge and emergency response skills to strengthen the institute’s resilience.

The training, delivered by Engr. A.B. Olatunbosun, Director of Training, Planning, and Research at the Oyo State Fire Service, was divided into two sessions:

  • Theoretical session: Highlighting core fire safety measures, prevention strategies, and emergency response protocols.
  • Practical session: Staff members actively participated in hands-on fire safety drills, practicing extinguishing techniques and demonstrating enthusiasm for applying what they learned.

This immersive approach not only deepened staff awareness but also fostered a sustainable fire safety culture within the institute. By bridging expert knowledge with practice, FRIN has taken a proactive step in risk mitigation and workplace safety.

In a closing remark, Engr. Solomon Faloye, Director of General Services at FRIN, applauded the initiative, thanking DG Yaduma for prioritizing staff welfare. He reminded all participants that “safety is a necessity”—a guiding principle that FRIN continues to uphold.
