TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING IN MODERN BEE KEEPING FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS AND BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION IN NIGER STATE.
Federal College of Wildlife Management, New Bussa, Niger State, is the only wildlife practical related Institution under Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria in the whole of West Africa sub-region. The college in a bid to empower surrounding communities around the college this week conducted a training and capacity building in modern Bee keeping for sustainable livelihood and biodiversity conservation.
Communities involved are Popo, Fakun, Kere and Koro districts all in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The training was facilitated by Halidu S.K (PhD), the Provost Federal College of Wildlife Management, New Bussa supported by the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan.
In attendance during the stakeholders/opening ceremony were: Halidu Shafui k.(PhD), the Provost Federal College of Wildlife Management New Bussa, Dr Adelakun Kehinde , Mall Akawu Rabiu, Mr Johnson Emmanuel, and staff from the college procurement office.
The Provost, Federal College of Wildlife Management, Halidu S.K. (PhD) said that the training was designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to venture into maiden Bee keeping.
